Combat is a type of action scene, where offensive techniques are used against defensive traits.
As with all action scenes, the prefix, suffix, and action are declared and then a reaction may be declared.
The rank of the offensive technique is checked against the rank of the corresponding trait.
Mind for a mental attack, Body for a physical attack, and Soul for a spiritual attack.
Offensive Techniques are any Technique that can be used to cause wounds or injury according to their magnitude.
If the Offensive Technique wins the check, the magnitude of the technique will reduce the value of the defenders corresponding resource.
These resources are sanity, health, and will.
The initial value of this resource is equal to the value of your mind, body, or soul respectively.
When a defensive resource is lowered to 0 you are unconscious.
IF the magnitude of the offensive technique was greater than your remaining defensive resource, the wound becomes an injury.
Untreated wounds become injuries.
Any amount of injures greater to your mind body or soul value, you die.
Defensive Additions are values that are reduced prior to the reduction of your defensive resource and will often confer additional benefits such as the reduction of the magnitude of the offensive technique.
These are not available inherently at character creation and must be obtained via equipment or Trait / Technique.
